December 4th, 2008. Filled in Features, Inside.
It has been only a week since we released the trips and on this time more than 100 trips have been created and almost 2,000 photos have been uploaded. Thank you so much!
Now it’s time to spread all this content! We have just added a “send to a friend” link on each trip and photo, so you can share them with your friends or family.

We’ve recorded a screencast to show the new features in the beta version of Wolpy.
It has been our first time making a screencast but we’ve had a lot of fun making it! So expect more videos coming soon :)

We have been tracking failed searches in Wolpy for some time now and we’ve realized that a high percentage of them was due to spelling errors.
For example, altough we accept and recognize places’ names in several languages, cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen or Nuremberg have a tricky spelling, difficult to remember.
Since it’s pretty frustrating trying to add a place to your map but not remembering the right spelling of it, we have implemented a “did you mean” feature that given a misspelled place offers a right alternative (like in Google’s search results).
From now on if you try to add Madrd or Moscouw to your map we’ll know what you mean! :)
Note to geeks
Unfortunately Geonames, the web service we are using for searching World places, doesn’t have a “did you mean” feature implemented, so we have use Google Maps API for it. Here is a tutorial by Mike Williams that explains how to do it.
November 25th, 2008. Filled in Features, Versions.
Yeah! We have just launched some big updates today. The main one is that now you can associate trips to your visited places, and save the date, photos and travel experiences of each one.
We have redesigned the list of your visited places so you can add trips to each place easily.
Note that you may find some bugs this week until we tune everything properly.

If you use Firefox 2 or Internet Explorer 7 (or any newer version) you can add our place search to your browser!
Just click on the tap next to your browser search box (or ctrl + k for Windows, ⌘+k for Mac) and add Wolpy as a search engine, so you can use it each time you want to look for place reviews (and soon… trips!)
August 6th, 2008. Filled in Features.
We’ve added 2 new fields to the profile form: “From” and “Now living in“. We’ve tested it with several users and only a few are living in the same place where they born. What about you?
July 23rd, 2008. Filled in Features.
In the next version of Wolpy you will be able to upload your own travel photos of each of your visited places but meanwhile, we have added some Panoramio‘s photos to the page of each place in Wolpy, so it will be easy to get an idea of how a place looks like.
Take a look to the beautiful Mýkonos, Granada, Queenstown or Florence!

Another little feature. Since we are growing fast, it’s becoming difficult to find friends among all Wolpy users, so we have added an user search box in the users page.

Just a little break (we are working hard those days in the beta version of Wolpy) to launch a cool feature.
Since some web services (like flickr or myspace) don’t admit embed code for inserting interactive maps in their pages, we have created an image version of your map of visited places so you can insert it even in this kind of web sites.
As a static image it cannot be zoomed neither the points can be clicked to go to each place’s page in Wolpy, but this method should work on every site you’ll try to insert your map.
Here it is the code for inserting your image map. And, as an example, that’s lebowsky‘s image map:

A lot of users requested us a way of communicate with other users, so we decided implemment a comment system.
Now, there is a page for each of your visited places (where, in the future you will be able to publish all your travel experience, like photos or tips) and there people can leave their comments.
This is, for example, the page of my visit to Tokio, with several comments.
